Born from a shared vision of independent business owners and artisans, the Brewery District thrives on collaboration and a passion for exceptional craft. What began as a grassroots community of brewers and distillers has blossomed into a dynamic hub featuring breweries, distilleries, eateries, galleries, and diverse local ventures, all contributing to the rich tapestry that defines our evolving neighborhood.
Reno Brewing Company opens at East 4th & Spokane with state-of-the-art facilities.
Brewery expands, becoming Nevada’s largest producer; Sierra Beer gains statewide fame.
Construction of the Nevada-California-Oregon Railroad Depot, key transit hub for the region.
Prohibition: Brewery pivots production, surviving through near-beer and non-alcoholic drinks.
Passenger train service ends; depot repurposed by Western Pacific Railroad
for freight & offices.
Modern bottling plant built to transition to consumer bottles and keep pace with market changes.
Pete Barengo purchases the depot, which houses Sierra Wine & Liquor headquarters.
Reno Brewing Company ceases operations permanently amid growing competition from national brands.
NCO Railroad Depot listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Craft beverage revival begins; new businesses move into historic buildings along East 4th Street.
Major restoration of the depot preserves original architectural elements and prepares the site for modern use.
Lead Dog Brewing opens, marking a new generation of craft entrepreneurs in the district.
